What happens

George Valentine receives a letter from Arnold Kyle, who admits to giving poisoned whiskey to Cleo Dawson but claims he didn't murder her. When Valentine investigates, Kyle's story centers on a mysterious stranger named Walt at Donovan's tavern who gave him the bottle. As Valentine digs deeper, he encounters radio commentator Wayne Medford, who offers to finance the investigation in exchange for dramatizing the case on his program.

A city with Donovan's tavern, a cheap hotel, a police office, and George Valentine's office.

Characters: George Valentine, Arnold Kyle, Lieutenant, Miss Brooks, Cleo Dawson, Walt, Charlie Drake, Wayne Medford

Listen for: The mysterious stranger Walt in the leather jacket with the studded belt, and what connection Wayne Medford's interest in the case might reveal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
