What happens
George Valentine is contacted urgently by Frank Summers in the dead of night about a terrible situation: Mr. Milburn has been murdered, and his estranged wife June has received a threatening call from the killer saying she will die for the crime. George must find the real murderer and prove Mrs. Milburn's innocence before suspicion falls entirely on her.
A beach community with scattered houses, George's office, police headquarters, and the telephone company office.
Characters: George Valentine, Frank Summers, June Milburn, Lieutenant Johnson, Mrs. Raleigh, Judge Paul Raleigh
Listen for: The mysterious dead-sounding voice on the phone, the details about the murder weapon and the clock stopped at ten, and the revelation that Mrs. Milburn was on a party line at the beach.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
