What happens
Private investigator George Valentine receives a mysterious package from opera singer Pietro Saville containing a blank record and a cryptic letter about an unexplained whisper. When Valentine visits Saville's house, he discovers the man has been murdered, struck down with a golden object. The murder weapon appears connected to an opera about a golden rooster, and a hidden recording on the record contains a whispered message that may identify the killer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
