What happens

George Valentine is called to investigate a troubled marriage after a farmer named Stengel witnesses what he believes might be a suicide attempt by Mrs. Blair on a bridge. When George and his secretary Miss Brooks visit the Blairs' home, they discover that Mr. Blair has been painting a portrait of another woman as his model, and the canvas has been savagely slashed to pieces—apparently by Mrs. Blair in a jealous rage after she discovered it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
