What happens

When George Valentine is approached by a desperate woman named Laurie Ferell, she claims her husband Nap Ferell—a notorious gangster—has been arrested for murdering a man named Chauncey at the Cedar Crest apartment house. Though Laurie despises her husband, she insists he couldn't have committed the murder because he abhors violence. George begins investigating the case despite police lieutenant Riley's warnings to stay away, uncovering conflicting evidence about Ferell's whereabouts and motives.

A city with an exclusive apartment house called the Cedar Crest; streets, police station, and various public places.

Characters: George Valentine, Brooksie, Laurie Ferell, Nap Ferell, Chauncey, Lieutenant Riley, The doorman at Cedar Crest, Mr. Jefferson

Listen for: The contradiction between Nap Ferell's reputation as a cold-blooded gangster and his alleged aversion to violence; the timeline of events at the Cedar Crest and the mystery of when Ferell actually left the building.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
