What happens
Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar looks into the murder of Barney Slade, a Penny Arcade operator in Ocean Park, California. Slade was secretly the silent film actor Tom Sanford, and his former wife, the actress Mavis Gale, is named as beneficiary on his insurance policy. Dollar questions arcade staff, who report seeing Mavis Gale near the arcade shortly before the killing. Tracing the men who went on a hunting trip with Sanford decades earlier, Dollar moves from a skid row bar to a rescue mission, where he meets Brother Jarvis Pocket, a former companion of Sanford. Pocket reveals a long-held secret about that trip and names a man connected to Mavis Gale. This is Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, from CBS Radio, originally broadcast October 31, 1956, starring Bob Bailey.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
