What happens

Johnny Dollar, a freelance insurance investigator, looks into the theft of a pink diamond called the Sabala Diamond from a New York jeweler, Joseph Wentworth, who was struck on the head during the robbery. Dollar questions Wentworth's companion Eloise Barnes and a collector, Gerald Mantell, who had hoped to buy the stone. Mantell is soon found beaten in an alley, and a series of phone calls and a cheap jewel case lead Dollar toward a man named Krause. The Johnny Dollar series aired on CBS Radio, and this episode, from May 11, 1958, stars Bob Bailey in the title role along with Edmond O'Brien, John Lund and Charles Russell.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
