What happens

Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar travels to a cattle ranch near Sarasota, Florida, after rancher Bart Trimble files a large claim for a herd of steers lost in a freeze. Earl Porman, a local company man, accompanies him. Trimble is hostile and resents the investigation, while his wife Betty is soft-spoken and helpful. Dollar notices suspicious details about the claim and the ranch's hired hands. The episode is introduced by the program's standard opening, with Bob Bailey in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
