What happens
Johnny Dollar, an insurance investigator, travels to the desert town of Calico to look into a policy held by the old prospector Chris Kringle, who wants to change his beneficiary. Jean Craig meets him at the airstrip and explains that the townspeople have come to love Chris, who gives presents to miners' children each year. Chris's nephew Ned and a rough companion named Willie Dagostino are close to him, and the town's marshal keeps a watchful eye on the situation. The story follows Johnny's questions about who stands to gain from the change, as tensions rise around the old man's bedside. This episode of Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar first aired on CBS Radio on December 22, 1957, with Bob Bailey in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
