What happens

Hopalong Cassidy and California Jones arrive in the mining town of Indian Spring after a forged letter, apparently from prospector Kit Kirby, asks Hoppy for help. Kirby and his partner Joe struck gold in the mountains, and Joe was later shot on the trail. Hoppy finds the town gripped by fear, a shooting in the saloon has left Luke Barry dead, and the gold strike seems tied to a string of attacks and a stolen assay report. The episode is part of the Hopalong Cassidy radio series, starring William Boyd and Andy Clyde.

Indian Spring, a rough mining town in the mountains of the Old West, in winter

Characters: Hopalong Cassidy, California Jones, Kit Kirby, Sally Kirby, Luke Barry, Doc Sheldon, Jerry, Joe

Listen for: The poker-table scene where Hoppy reconstructs the shooting in the saloon, and the gold strike as the story's central mystery.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
