What happens

Paladin is hired by the mayor of Silver Flat, Nevada to find Ben Tyler, a man accused of murdering the local sheriff. Paladin learns that Tyler carries a small 36-caliber star pistol and tracks him to a gambling hall in Hayes, where Tyler claims he has an alibi and can prove his innocence.

Silver Flat, Nevada and the town of Hayes, 1875. Silver Flat is described as an ugly town set between mountains, with buildings lining a rutted street, half of them saloons.
