What happens

Marshal Matt Dillon investigates a series of raids on settler families near the Smoky Hill River, where Indian attacks are blamed. Dillon, played by William Conrad in the CBS Radio series Gunsmoke, first hears of the killings from settlers in Dodge City, and he doubts that the killings were the work of Pawnee war parties. He reasons from the evidence at the scene, including the lack of tracks and the marks left on the bodies, while the settlers and the cavalry captain press him to act. The broadcast begins with his first steps in the case, as he weighs what the settlers believe against what the scene suggests.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
