What happens
Young Jeff Bert comes to Marshal Dillon reporting that his father Luke has been beaten bloody by a man named Smedly Marshall. Jeff is certain Marshall is guilty based on a confrontation he witnessed on Front Street, but Luke refuses to press charges or cooperate with the law, insisting he can handle his own vengeance.
Dodge City, Kansas and the Bert homestead
Characters: Matt Dillon, Jeff Bert, Luke Bert, Smedly Marshall, Chester
Listen for: A clash between frontier justice and the law as an old rancher refuses to let the marshal help, preferring to settle scores himself.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
