What happens

Marshal Matt Dillon encounters Looney McCluny, an eccentric prospector who repeatedly claims to have found gold in the Colorado territory. When McCluny turns up dead at his shack by the river, struck on the head with stove wood, Matt must investigate who killed the harmless but persistent old man and uncover the truth about what McCluny really had that was worth killing for.

Dodge City and the surrounding territory, including McCluny's shack down by the river

Characters: Matt Dillon, Chester, Doc, Looney McCluny, Amy

Listen for: The running joke about McCluny's repeated claims of finding gold that always turn out to be fool's gold or pyrite, and his habit of leaving town without paying his debts; the discovery of the body and evidence that someone was digging under the floorboards of his shack.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
