What happens

Marshal Matt Dillon rescues a man from a lynch mob, only to discover the man is Pete Brass, a notorious outlaw wanted for bank robberies across three states. Brass is locked in the Dodge City jail, confident that his gang will soon arrive to break him out, while Dillon prepares for the confrontation he knows is coming.

Dodge City and the surrounding territory in the American West, primarily the marshal's office and jail.

Characters: Matt Dillon, Chester, Pete Brass, Jess

Listen for: Pete Brass's threats that his gang will rescue him from jail and make things hard on Marshal Dillon; Dillon's calm certainty that trouble is coming; the arrival of Brass's men plotting how to break him out.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
