What happens

A wagon train has been attacked, leaving 49 dead and two young women missing. Captain Quince must decide whether to negotiate with Big Elk, a Sioux chief held at the fort, offering him freedom in exchange for leading a rescue party to find the captives before it's too late.

Fort Laramie, with references to Lodgepole Creek where a Sioux camp may be located

Characters: Captain Quince, Major Hazen, Lieutenant Sybricis, Harrison, Big Elk, Hook, Mr. Ridded

Listen for: The moral conflict over using a prisoner as a bargaining tool, and Big Elk's knowledge of where his people's camp might be located

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
