What happens

Captain Lee Quince and his men are pinned down in a canyon after a raid by Arapaho dog soldiers. With ammunition running low and overwhelmed by numbers, Quince sends most of his men away while he stays behind with just his orderly Harrison. Wounded and weakened, Quince and Harrison find shelter near a stream, but their position is soon discovered by approaching riders.

A canyon on the frontier near Fort Laramie, with a stream and cabin nearby. The time is during a cavalry engagement with Arapaho warriors.

Characters: Captain Lee Quince, Sergeant Gorse, Lieutenant Sybrits, Harrison, Arapaho dog soldiers

Listen for: The tense standoff in the canyon, Quince's decision to stay behind with minimal forces, and the discovery of the captain and Harrison's hiding place by enemy riders approaching through the trees.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
