What happens

A man drowns at a public swimming pool in the Bronx, and his locker is robbed. When the medical examiner performs an autopsy, he discovers the man was actually murdered—not by drowning, but by improper artificial respiration administered by the lifeguard on duty. Detective Danny Clover must investigate whether the lifeguard's poor technique was negligence or intentional murder.

The Bronx, New York City; a public swimming pool and police headquarters

Characters: Danny Clover, Dr. Cinsky, Russ Gaby, Bob

Listen for: The twist that the lifeguard's artificial respiration technique caused the victim's death; the detective's interrogation of the lifeguard about whether the poor resuscitation was accidental or deliberate.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
