What happens
Dan Holiday receives a pencil-written note leading him to Mrs. Kerr, whose son Biff sits in jail accused of breaking into a store and stealing a cash box. Though Biff initially denied the crime, he suddenly confesses, but Dan suspects the boy is lying and taking the fall for someone else. When a mysterious visitor appears in Dan's apartment in the dark, threatening him to lay off the Kerr kid, the case becomes far more dangerous than a simple theft.
A city with a jail, a store, and Dan Holiday's apartment

Listen for: The puzzle of why Biff would confess to a crime he didn't commit and the identity of the mysterious intruder warning Dan away from the case
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
