What happens
Boston Blackie investigates a counterfeiting ring after his informant, Little Joe, is murdered. Blackie's old friend Inspector Faraday is skeptical of his theories, and the trail leads through a shoeshine stand run by Shiny Steele, where Blackie pays fifty dollars and receives a hundred-dollar bill in change. Experts and a bank both accept the bill as genuine, which makes the case stranger still. Blackie is shot at during the investigation and works to trace the source of the money. This is the Boston Blackie series, first heard on NBC in 1944 and syndicated by Ziv from 1945 to 1950; the episode aired on September 3, 1947. Chester Morris stars as Boston Blackie, with Richard Lane and Jan Miner in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
