(xx) Russell in Charge of Howard

Well sir, it's early evening as our scene opens now. And here in the living room of the small house halfway up in the next block we find Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cook. There I seated on opposite side of the library table.

And from the looks of things we judge we're in time to witness a Rummy gay. Listen. Let's see. This is where you make spreads. Oh, for gosh sake, Stuckus Street. Well, sure, Rummy. Person makes spreads.

We've been playing this game for 87 years. 87 years and we've never sat down yet but what you didn't want to know how it went That's because I'm afraid I might get it mixed up with other card games. What other card games?

We play 500 with Ted Ruthie all the time And sometimes the ladies at the Fimbo deal out of hand a flinch Just out the day you were showing me how to play drawing poker And now you want me to show you how to play Rummy, huh?

You an old veteran that's played a million games of Rummy. I appreciate it's where you make spreads Go ahead. You go ahead. I doubt. Uh-huh. Wow, wow. Let's see. No. Now that's another thing you do.

Can't you look at your cards and tell at the glance what you want? Got it? Say, what's eating you, mister? Will you pick up your tickets and study and stare and stew half an hour?

You ought to be able to tell in three seconds whether you can use that jack I discarded or not. like somebody ain't in the very good humor. Well, I mean, good enough humor, kid. Oh, but you're the funniest dog on Rummy Player I ever come across.
