And now back to Tales of the Texas Rangers. Now from the files of the Texas Rangers, the case called Knockout. It is 10 o'clock on a Saturday night in July 1946. Outside the Rand Hotel in Jackson, Texas, 50 miles from Houston, the sheriff stands talking to some cattle ranchers who are in town for a convention.
He is about to leave the group and walk toward his car in the front door of the hotel, Bursoven. Yeah, yeah, over here! Shavon, oh, excuse me, Bill. See ya later, yeah, what's the matter?
Up there, over second floor, some kind of trouble. Well, come on, show me where it is. Mrs. Beale, she just called, sounded scared of death. Said there was an awful fight going on in the next room, right up these stairs.
