Guests - Vera Ellen and Johnny Mercer ( #191)

From Hollywood, it's the Dennis Day Show. Yes, it's the Dennis Day Show produced and transcribed in Hollywood with George Weil and the orchestra and Dennis Special Guest, Vera Allen and Toni Mercer. And now here he is, the star of our show, Dennis Day.

The moon belongs to everyone. The best things in life are free. The stars belong to everyone They gleam there for you and me The flowers in spring, the robins that sing The sun beams at shine, they're yours, they're mine And love can come to everyone The best things in life are free The flowers in spring, the robins that sing

The sun means that shine, they're yours, they're mine and love can come To everyone, the best things in life Ladies and gentlemen, music and song play a pretty important part on this show And if it weren't for the songwriters, my program might sound something like this.

And here he is, the star of our show, Dennis D. Thank you, folks, and good night. So that's why I thought it might be interesting for you to meet one of the men who makes any musical show possible, one of America's top songwriters that pixie from Dixie, Mr. Johnny Mercer.

Thank you, Dennis. I'm very grateful for that introduction. Well, you deserve a Johnny. After all, you've been pounding the piano and the typewriter for over 20 years, banging out music and lyrics that have become hit after hit.

Say, Johnny, would you mind letting me have a look at those talent-loaded fingers of yours? Not at all, here. Oh, what do you know? Dr. Scholes put pads on your fingertips. Well, without them, my songs would have been awful, Carney.
