What happens
Eddie Sloan, the son of a wealthy rancher, is rejected by June Waters after she returns from school in the East, because she says he has never made anything of himself. Stung, Eddie goes to work on a cattle ranch under the name Wyoming, where he learns to take hard work and rough treatment from the other hands. Marty, the foreman, keeps an eye on him. When rustlers strike the herd, Wyoming rides out with Joe to track them down. The story is presented in the All Star Western Theatre series, broadcast on September 1, 1946, with Eddie Dean, Gene Autry's co-star in this episode's cast, as the lead singer.
A Wyoming cattle ranch in the Old West, with a party at the Sloan home and later the ranch's range and rocky creek country.
Characters: Eddie Sloan, June Waters, Bob Norman, Marty, Wyoming, Joe, Skinner
Listen for: Eddie Sloan's rejection by June and his decision to work under the name Wyoming, and the rustler chase that follows.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
