About

Accessibility statement

Stupid Potato should work for everyone: with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, captions or a quieter screen. Here is what we aim for, what already works, what does not yet, and how to tell us.

Last reviewed November 4, 2026.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA on stupidpotato.com and its podcasts, books, watch and games sites. WCAG 2.2 is also the international standard ISO/IEC 40500:2025, and Level AA is what the European standard EN 301 549 and United States accessibility rules point to for websites.

What works

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing the Tab key reaches, and the control you are on always has a visible outline.
  • The radio players, the episode lists, the storybooks and the search are ordinary buttons, links and form fields with names a screen reader reads out.
  • Text size: the Aa button in the top bar makes the words bigger or smaller, and every page still works at 200% zoom and on a screen 320 pixels wide.
  • Light and dark: the moon button switches between them, and the site follows your device's own setting.
  • Less motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, nothing on the site moves by itself. Gameplay clips that play by themselves have a pause button.
  • Pictures of shows, hosts and storybooks have text descriptions.
  • Every storybook page shows the whole story as text beside the reading.
  • Every gameplay clip and cartoon can be paused, and nothing plays sound until you ask it to.

Known exceptions

The games

Our browser games at games.stupidpotato.com are drawn on a canvas by a game engine. A screen reader cannot read what happens in them, and most need a mouse, a touch screen or quick reactions. Press the Tab key to move out of a game to its "Back to all games" link, and pinch to zoom works on phones. Each game's page has its name and a description in text, and the games list says what each game is.

Captions on cartoons

The classic cartoons on watch.stupidpotato.com carry subtitles where the film has dialogue we could caption. Our own Stupid Potato Cartoons do not have captions yet; we are adding them, newest first.

Transcripts of radio episodes

Many old-time radio episodes have a machine-made transcript in the transcript archive, linked from each series' page; it can contain mistakes in names and places. Everyone can read the opening of each transcript and search every word; the full text is part of Potato Plus. If you need the full transcript of any episode because of a disability, email podcasts@stupidpotato.com and we will send it to you free.

Live radio

The live channels are audio only and have no live captions. What is playing is shown in text on each channel's page, with the episode's title and description.

Other sites

Some links take you to sites we do not run, such as YouTube, Apple Podcasts and our payment provider's checkout. Their accessibility is up to them.

Tell us about a problem

If something on Stupid Potato does not work for you, or you need something in another format, email podcasts@stupidpotato.com with the page's address and what happened. We read every message and aim to reply within five business days.

How we check

We test pages with the automated checker axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA, with a keyboard alone, at 200% zoom and at phone width, and with reduced motion turned on. The check runs again every hour after the site's pages are rebuilt, so a new page that breaks the rules is caught.
