What happens
Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles take jobs with Timothy Dolan, a lumberman under pressure from Mark Slater, who wants Dolan's land and timber. The Wild Bill Hickok series aired on February 23, 1953, with Guy Madison as Wild Bill and Andy Devine as Jingles. Dolan has lost his crew to a series of mysterious shootings, and the two lawmen soon find themselves trapped by Slater's men in a dugout while their horses wait outside. Pressed by the cold and by the threat to Dolan's logs on the river, they must find a way out before Slater can act.
A pine forest and timber country in Wyoming, in the winter, near a river and a dugout.
Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Timothy Dolan, Mark Slater, Buckshot
Listen for: Jingles pleading to be warmed by a fire, and the sound of Buckshot the horse breaking the dugout door.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
