What happens
Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles investigate a self-styled rainmaker named Professor Flanagan in the town of Rimrock, where drought has left the land dry and the cattle dying. The series is Wild Bill Hickok, first broadcast on May 19, 1954, with Guy Madison as Wild Bill and Andy Devine as Jingles. The professor has been flying a balloon and setting off fireworks over the town while collecting money from desperate ranchers who want rain. Hickok and Jingles visit rancher Todd Sloan, who has put up $3,000 for the rain, and then find the professor and his assistant Chick Flanagan at work on their scheme. Tension rises as the two lawmen grow suspicious of the pair's plans, and the story builds toward a confrontation over the balloon and the money.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
