What happens

Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles are camped by a river when a boy named Zip Grady sells them trout he has caught. Zip is searching for his missing father, and when his bad-tempered uncle Chet arrives with an Indian companion, the lawmen grow suspicious. Hickok reads a warning in a message from Blue Feather and begins to question the Grady family's dealings. Their questions lead them across the desert toward a county seat, where a lawyer is handling the late Pop Grady's will.

A river camp and desert country of the Old West, including a Grady ranch and a county seat town with a lawyer's office.

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Zip Grady, Chet Grady, Blue Feather, Fisher, Mr. Lansing

Listen for: Listen for the clues Hickok reads, such as Blue Feather's message, and for the questions he puts to Chet Grady and the lawyer's clerk.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
