What happens

United States Marshal Wild Bill Hickok and his deputy Jingles ride after a band of Indians, led by Chief Big Bear, who are driving a stampede of cattle across the canyon country. The lawmen soon find Big Bear and his warriors in war paint, and the chief insists the beef is his tribe's business. Hickok suspects that something is wrong with the government beef deliveries to the reservation, and he confronts the rancher Gunther. Hickok and Jingles keep watch as the next delivery approaches the Indian corral, where tensions between the tribe and the rancher are rising.

The old west, a canyon country near a government Indian reservation and a cattle ranch.

Characters: Wild Bill Hickok, Jingles, Chief Big Bear, Gunther, Alfred

Listen for: Hickok's reasoning about the cattle deliveries and the big red steer in the corral.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
