What happens

Uncle Fletcher, a relative of the Fletcher family, arrives at the house on the next block with a large old-fashioned easy chair, which he brings from his room at Miss Callen's. Vic and Sade's household, including young Rush Cook, gathers around him as he insists the chair will fit in the family's living room, despite the crowded space. Uncle Fletcher's sudden arrival unsettles the household's routine as they debate where the chair should go and how to accommodate his stay. The discussion turns to his recent unsuccessful campaigns for public office and his stubborn insistence on his own plans. This episode of Vic and Sade, the long-running daytime radio serial, was first broadcast on July 1, 1941, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.

A small house on a residential block in the late afternoon, where the family's living room is crowded by the arrival of a large easy chair.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
