What happens

Uncle Fletcher sits on the porch swing with his grandnephew Russell and tells him about a job offer he received at the Tencent Store. The store manager, Mr. Harry Expar, wanted him to play piano at the music counter, though Fletcher admits he cannot play. Vic and Sade's household is busy as Vic works downtown at a bazaar run by her women's club. Vic and Sade, the Vic and Sade radio serial, first aired on June 27, 1944, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the leads. Russell listens as Fletcher explains the offer and his reasons for turning it down.

A small house on a residential street, on the front porch in late afternoon, and the downtown courthouse square.

Listen for: Uncle Fletcher describing the piano job offer at the Tencent Store and how he responds to it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
