What happens
Russell comes home eager to buy a telescope from a catalog, planning to study the stars with a set of astronomy books. His father Vic objects to spending thirty-five dollars and argues against the purchase, pointing out the family's other costs and his own lodge expenses. Sade joins in the debate, and the argument over the money grows heated. Vic and Sade are a married couple, and the family argues in their living room while Russell tries to make his case. The episode is part of the Vic and Sade series, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles, and it first aired on June 23, 1944.

Characters: Vic, Sade, Russell, Mr. Hulch, Margaret
Listen for: Russell's plan to buy a telescope and the family's argument over spending thirty-five dollars on it.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
