What happens
Victor Gug and his neighbor Mr. Mervins spend an early evening talking in the living room of the small house halfway up the next block, first about Milwaukee and then, after a muddle, about Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Sproul, a visitor, is fussed over with water and pillows while Florence is downtown. Uncle Fletcher, whose telephone is ringing, is the subject of several calls that are quickly passed along. Sadie and Vic plan a joke on Uncle Fletcher, and the calls and jokes keep building around him. This is part of the Vic and Sade series, first broadcast on November 29, 1945, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the leading roles.
The small house halfway up the next block, early evening, in the living room and hallway.
Characters: Victor Gugg, Mr. Mervins, Mr. Sproul, Florence, Uncle Fletcher, Sadie, Ernie Fatler, B.B. Ball
Listen for: The exchange about Milwaukee and Toledo, and Uncle Fletcher's repeated telephone calls.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
