What happens

Victor Cook sits on his front porch when his son Rush rushes up with news of a neighborhood scrap drive. Rush and his friends Bluetooth Johnson, Vernon Pickles and Nicer Scott have organized the Virginia Avenue Area Sons of Patriotism Salvage and Indemnity to collect metal, paper and rubber for the war effort. Rush and Victor talk about the items the government wants, how the scrap will be sold to a junk man, and the rivalry between Rush and Nicer. Victor keeps a little black book of Nicer's offenses, and Nicer tells tall stories about his relatives. The Vic and Sade series, first broadcast in 1942 with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson, presents this episode in the early evening on the small house's front porch.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
