What happens
Vic and Sade follow the everyday life of a household in which Uncle Fletcher receives a letter from Aunt Bess. Fletcher has carried the unopened letter around for some time, and the family gathers as he finally reads it aloud. Bess writes about her husband Walter's sore kneecap, the snow where she lives, and the progress of her son's piano playing. The conversation moves between the letter and small domestic matters over breakfast, with the household's routine and the letter's news filling the scene. Recorded in 1942, the episode was broadcast on March 9 of that year, and its lead actors include Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson.

Characters: Uncle Fletcher, Vic, Sade, Rex, Aunt Bess
Listen for: Uncle Fletcher's admission that he has carried Bess's unopened letter around since February, and the letter's rambling news about Walter's kneecap and the piano-playing son.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
