What happens

Vic and Sade is an old-time radio serial set in a small house halfway up the next block. In this episode, the gas meter reader Orvoh Dini confides to Sweet Corn McBlock that he has been falling asleep in people's cellars and may lose his job. Sweet Corn explains that he has fallen behind on his dues to a fraternal lodge and must be formally expelled and then reinstated. Orvoh agrees to help him with the ceremony, which involves recitations, a mock sword, and the ripping of buttons from his vest, shirt and underwear. Sweet Corn is reluctant at first but goes along with the ritual, which the two rehearse in the living room. The lodge ceremony is still in progress when the scene ends.

Characters: Sweet Corn McBlock, Orvoh Dini, Sade

Listen for: Orvoh's account of falling asleep in customers' basements, and the mock expulsion ceremony between Sweet Corn and Orvoh.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
