What happens
Uncle Fletcher visits Vic and Sade in their living room one November evening in 1943 and asks for a favour. He wants them to help him sell Stingyberry Jam, a product made by his friend B.B. Ball, going house to house in the neighbourhood. Sade firmly refuses, calling the jam unpleasant, and Uncle Fletcher argues that people can learn to like things, offering stories as support. Sade remains unconvinced, and Uncle Fletcher eventually agrees to postpone the scheme. The episode is part of the Vic and Sade series, first broadcast on November 11, 1943, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.
The living room of a small house in a town, on a raw November evening around seven o'clock.
Characters: Uncle Fletcher, Sade, Vic, Russell, Fred, B.B. Ball
Listen for: Uncle Fletcher's persuasive arguments for selling Stingyberry Jam, and Sade's firm refusal to get involved.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
