What happens
Vic and Sade's son Russell is due at church that morning to help clean and decorate the Sunday school room, but his mother has thrown out his rubbers. The only footwear left is his father's old, rotten overshoes, which Russell is determined not to wear. At breakfast on a rainy summer morning, the family argues over the overshoes, and Russell protests that he would be an object of universal derision if he went out in them. Sade proposes a solution involving a taxicab. The Vic and Sade series, first broadcast on August 1, 1944, features Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
