What happens

Vic and Sade is a daytime serial set in a small town. Vic and Sade Gook are at home on their porch when Sade confesses she has opened a letter addressed to Reverend V. Cook by mistake. She first thought it was for Mrs. V. Cook, and the envelope bears the name of Cleveburgers, a haberdasher to which the family already owes two dollars. The letter is a routine bill showing a balance of $4.50 still owed on a June purchase. Sade wonders whether to return it unread, and Vic and Sade debate how she should handle the awkward mistake. Their conversation becomes a string of jokes and tall tales about fines and prisons. The episode is broadcast on September 20, 1944, and features Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
