What happens

Vic and Sade is a comedy of small-town domestic life, and here Vic and Sade Gook spend an evening at home. Vic has been trying out facial expressions after a co-worker remarked that he has piercing blue eyes, and Sade notices his grimaces and presses him to explain. Their talk turns to a crowd at the office telephone switchboard and to the compliment itself. Later, a telephone call brings news of Ted and Ruthie coming over for an evening of cards. The episode aired on June 16, 1944, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.

The living room of the Gook house, halfway up the next block, in the evening after supper.

Characters: Vic Gook, Sade Gook, Ted, Ruthie, Steve Chesbrough, Lolita, Josh

Listen for: Vic's exaggerated facial expressions and the running joke about his piercing blue eyes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
