What happens
Rush Gook, the teenage son of Victor Gook, wants to be reinstated as official host of an upcoming party at the family home on Virginia Avenue, which his mother has taken over. In the kitchen, he pitches his plans to his father, including doctors and nurses on a platform, a fire department call, a policeman, and tattooing guests. Victor listens and tries to judge whether the ideas are practical. The story is part of the Vic and Sade radio serial, first broadcast on March 3, 1938, and featuring Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.
The Gook family kitchen on Virginia Avenue, late afternoon
Characters: Victor Gook, Rush Gook, Mother
Listen for: Rush's increasingly elaborate party plans and his father's dry responses
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
