What happens
Vic Gibbs reads a letter from his friend Homer U. McGancey, who invites him to speak at the Missouri State Home for the Tall in Sick River Junction. Vic is inclined to decline, but he drafts an oration for fun while the family teases him about the odd institution. Sadie and the children tease Vic and debate ice cream flavors, and Vic weighs whether a speech about the little people would suit his audience. The letter notes that the home cannot pay Vic's expenses, which leaves the invitation uncertain.
The Gibbs house in the evening, around 7:30 o'clock, with the family gathered in the living room.
Characters: Vic, Sadie, Russell, Homer U. McGancey, Arthur K. Van Beebunk, Willie
Listen for: Vic reading Homer's letter aloud and the family's reactions to his invitation to speak at the Missouri State Home for the Tall.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
