What happens
Vic and Sade work to hang a porch swing on their front porch on a late summer afternoon. Vic grumbles that the job should be done by two people and drags his feet, while Sade insists it is long overdue, since every other house on the block already has one. Neighbors Russell and Uncle Fletcher drop by, and the talk drifts into rambling anecdotes about a poet, a shoe store, and a man named Ernie Spotters. The episode is part of the long-running Vic and Sade series, aired in 1943 on the network of the day with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.
The front porch of the Gook family home, late afternoon in summer
Characters: Vic, Sade, Russell, Uncle Fletcher
Listen for: Vic's reluctance to hang the swing, and the wandering neighborhood talk that keeps the job from getting done
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
