What happens
Sade and her Uncle Fletcher chat on the back porch on a warm, breezy morning. Sade mentions that Mr. Donahue is asleep next door after a long overnight railroad run, so they lower their voices. The talk drifts to a compliment on Sade's new mop, a sad death in Belvedere, and the work waiting at home. Uncle Fletcher then announces he is off to the ten hundred block of West Washington Street to have his elkskin shoelaces changed by Burke Chauffe, and the two trade remarks about the job. Sade teases him about the difficulty of the laces and the elaborate lacing pattern he uses. Vic and Sade is the old-time radio serial, and this episode first aired on June 7, 1944.

Listen for: Uncle Fletcher's plans to have his elkskin shoelaces changed at Burke Chauffe's shoe repair shop, and Sade's teasing about the lacing.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
