What happens
Vic and Sade, the Vic and Sade series, first aired on 1941-09-09 with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles. In the living room of the small house halfway up the next block, Sade and her son Rush discuss what to buy as a Christmas present for Mr. Rubbish, the boss at the foundry where the household's head works. Sade has been chosen again to pick the gift from money collected from the employees. Their search for ideas keeps being interrupted by Rush's telephone calls to friends and acquaintances, each one reminding someone that they owe him a small sum of money. Ideas such as slippers, candy, handkerchiefs and pictures are weighed against the boss's existing possessions and the amount available.

Characters: Vic, Sade, Rush, Mr. Rubbish, Mrs. Gook
Listen for: Sade's discussion of possible gifts for Mr. Rubbish, and Rush's repeated telephone calls to remind friends that they owe him money
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
