What happens

Vic and Sade is a daily radio serial about a small-town household, and this episode, first broadcast on January 22, 1941, opens at the family's noon meal. Vic and Sade and their son Willie linger in the living room after eating, and Vic talks about being drowsy and about a neighbor, Gully Hooker, who once fell asleep while proposing. Sade is reluctant to start the dishes, and the talk turns to Mr. Erickson, who keeps putting off replacing the upstairs wallpaper, and to Uncle Fletcher, who may or may not come to supper. Vic plans errands for the afternoon while the household chatters on about neighbors, the Hendersons and their crowded house.

Listen for: Vic's story about Gully Hooker falling asleep during his marriage proposal, and the back-and-forth over the dishes

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
