What happens
Uncle Fletcher drops in on Vic and Sade late one evening while Vic is reading and Sade is darning socks. Fletcher explains he is waiting until one o'clock to meet Mrs. Alvey Trogel's train from Chicago, and he has brought an envelope of old Christmas cards to pass the time. As he shows them one by one, the household members take turns excusing themselves to go to bed, and Fletcher is left reading cards from people whose names he does not recognize, while he recalls places and friends from his past. The episode is part of the Vic and Sade series, first broadcast on February 24, 1941, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles.
The living room of the small house halfway up the next block, around 10:30 at night.
Characters: Vic Gook, Sade Gook, Uncle Fletcher, Rush, Mrs. Alvey Trogel, Alvey Trogel
Listen for: Uncle Fletcher reading the old Christmas card signatures, such as James S. Dredge, UQ Tuttle and George E. Play, and his puzzled comments about them.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
