What happens

Victor Gookall, an office worker, is at home in the evening, phoning his colleague Ike Neesuffer about a work matter. His wife Sade and their household are caught up in a scramble when he cannot find his new pants, and the family starts looking for them. Gookall explains that he has agreed to a car outing to Chenoa with the Stembottoms, but has also promised to let Hank Gutstoff ride along, a man Gookall prefers to avoid. Charlie Razorscum wants his broken-down car towed behind Fred's automobile so he can find parts at a junkyard in Chenoa. Gookall worries about how to break the news to Fred and Ruthie, and the plan grows more complicated as the evening goes on.

The Gookall living room in a small house in the evening, and the family's surroundings at about seven o'clock as a car ride to Chenoa is being arranged.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
