What happens
Ranger Jay Pearson investigates the murder of Robert Dixon, a driver who picked up passengers for extra income to fund his son's college education. Dixon is found shot twice in the head in a ditch south of Colby, Texas, his pockets emptied. A slip of paper in his car provides the first lead: a passenger named Dave Hobart picked up at a travel agency the previous evening.
Texas, primarily near Colby and Houston, in 1952
Characters: Jay Pearson, Robert Dixon, Sheriff, Dave Hobart
Listen for: The investigation into Dixon's murder unfolds as Ranger Pearson pursues the lead of the mysterious passenger and discovers bloody clothing near the abandoned car.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
