What happens

A young woman in a red satin dress returns to her impoverished hometown and persuades her younger sister to help her rob a movie theater. The two girls stage a holdup at the ticket booth, striking the manager and stealing money from the safe before fleeing. Texas Rangers Jason Pearson and Clay Morgan arrive at the scene to investigate the crime.

A movie theater in rural Texas, September 1947. The story begins at a ramshackle house on a dirt road in the country before moving to the town's movie house.

Characters: Jason Pearson, Clay Morgan, the older sister, the younger sister (age 15), the ticket seller, Mr. Ball (manager), Paul (father), the deputy sheriff

Listen for: The details the ticket seller provides about the two robbers' appearances, and the Rangers' investigation as they begin tracking down leads in the case.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
